helenHelen Papaconstantinos – Evidence-based Clinical Nutrition

Helen Papaconstantinos, BaH, ROHP, CNP, is a Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner and Certified Nutritional Practitioner.  Her practice, Insightful Nutrition, is focused on identifying and treating the root cause of illness.

Special focus areas include healthy aging, digestive disorders, cancer support, auto-immune conditions (including multiple sclerosis), diabetes, cardiovascular disease and brain support.

Using a holistic model, Helen helps individuals to use their capacity for self-healing.  The emphasis is on treating the individual – not the condition. A detailed health history is taken to assess the current state of health. Without judgement, the history is assessed by looking at the client’s past and current environment, nutrition, lifestyle, and medications. Digestion, where we hold at least 80 percent of our immune system, is addressed and balanced first.

Education

Helen is a First Class Honours graduate of the Institute of Holistic Nutrition.  She holds an Honours BA in International Relations (summa cum laude, Jan Smuts Scholar), from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.  Additionally, she holds a psychology/education BA degree from Brock University in Ontario, Canada.

In her thirty years + working in international development, research, clinical and classroom settings, she has seen the difference that targeted nutrition can make.

As a practitioner, Helen believes in keeping current and is often called upon to undertake nutrition research and writing projects. Helen’s capacity for helping people is innate.  In addition to her clinical training and experience, Helen enjoys showing her client’s creative ways to use food as medicine.
